In the story “Stolen Party” written by Liliana Heker, a girl‚Äôs dreams are shattered by the bitter reality of her destiny. Rosaura spends most of her time trying to convince her mother, as well as everyone at the birthday party.
The mother does not want Rosaura to go “the rich people‚Äôs party,” perhaps due to fear that her daughter might experience the cold shoulder from the richer class. So Rosaura proceeds to tell her mother what a friend is. However despite her greatest efforts to make her mother understand, her mother continues to keep throwing negative thoughts and opinions at her. However, she is confronted by a “high class” young girl who is the cousin of her friend Luciana. After numerous questions about whom Rosaura was, the young girl tells her “you are not a friend of Luciana because I‚Äôm her cousin and I know all her friends”. Also, she got money instead of a present which tells us that this is a clear indication of her position.
So basically, author is trying to convey the differentiation between the rich and the poor. Rosaura thought it that she has right to be with upper people and join them, but reality wasn’t.

    The Stolen Party- Essay

The story is about a girl, named Rosaura. Her mother was the maid of her friend Luciana. Luciana is a rich American, but Rosaura is poor and Native American. This is an historical fiction story, which tells the story of many people at the past.
I think that the author has done a great job of putting a story that has an historical past. There are some parts that I do not agree with such as the treatment between poor, and rich that happened. I do like the way that the author introduced the different characters in many different ways. I do understand the way Rosaura’s mother treated the Americans, and the family she worked for.
I disagreed with the author of the treatment between poor and rich; because of the way everybody liked Rosaura at the party, because of the historical past where the Native Americans and American weren’t “friends”. Here are two sentences from the story that are mentioning that: “Apart from the girl with the bow, all the others were delightful.” And also this sentence: “all the boys wanted her for their side.”
I liked the way the author introduced the character’s names only at quotes. Here are some examples: ““What a marvelous daughter you have, Herminia.” Or when the author introduced Rosaura “Listen Rosaura.” This is a continuous quote, but this is the part where Rosaura got introduced.
Rosaura’s mother treated the Americans like enemy, rich people. It is mostly said at this quote: “It’s a rich people’s party.” But this idea also was at another quote that the mother said: “That one’s not your friend. You know what you are to them? The maid’s daughter, that’s what.” The mother thought of Rosaura, and she didn’t want her to get heart like she got at the last couple of paragraphs of the story, which tells her mother was right from the beginning. This quote is about what Senora Ines gave Rosaura instead of a present: “Senora Ines didn’t look in the pink bag. Nor did she look in the blue bag. Instead she rummaged in her purse. In her hand appeared two bills. “You really and truly earned this,” she said handing them over. “Thank you for all your help my pet.”
Rosaura’s mother was right all the time, but Rosaura got heart at the end, because she didn’t listen to the truth her mother spoke. The poor Native Americans and the rich Americans do have a lot of differences between them, and Rosaura noticed that at the end

    Discrimination against the girls
Poor girl will never be treated right. Just like Rosaura, who is a daughter of a housemaid, was treated in her friend’s party. She was invited to the party and happy to help as friend but Luciana’s mother gave her money like a fee for service. At the end of the party, Senora Ines said“you very and truly earned this”, and also said “thank you for all your help my pet”. Rosaura is also Hispanic girl. She was looked down upon by Luciana’s cousin, She didn’t believe that Rosaura could be a friend with Luciana. She kicked her in the shin. So, Rosaura was not treated right because of her social class and her ethnicity.

    The Stolen Party
“The Stolen Party” is a story about a girl named Rosaura, she is 9 years-old. She’s been invited to a birthday party, she thinks it’s because the birthday girl wants her to come. She wanted to come very badly, and one thing that she knew was going to happen, and that she was exited about was that she would get a bracelet form the pink bag, or an jojo from the blue. She thinks that since Luciana (the birthday girl) and Rosaura have been doing their homework together for a while now, that they are friends, but she actually just got invited because her mom, Herminia is the maid in the house.
The Stolen Party indicates that money and power can come in between friendships. And that money and power have a big role in what happens between people, and that it has a big “say” in what happens. Like at the end of the party everybody gets a little jojo or a bracelet, but Rosaura and her mom Herminia gets money. -Senora Ines didn’t look in the pink bag. Nor did she look in the blue bag. Instead she rummaged in her purse. In her hand appeared two bills.“You really and truly earned this,” she said handing them over. “Thank you for all your help my pet.”- That is when Rosaura understood that she wasn’t invited because of the friendship between her and Luciana, but that she got invited because of her moms job.

This story is about a girl named Rosaura who is very poor. She got invited to a party by her friend who is rich. When Rosaura gets to the party, she gets treated differently.

Thesis: misunderstanding that all poor people always look for ways to earn money is bad

Rosaura was invited to a party to celebrate her friend’s birthday. Rosaura is a very nice girl so she helped her friend to pass out the cake and help other stuff. Rosaura had a good time and when it was time to go, her friend got a present but Rosaura got money instead because Rosaura’s friend’s mom thought that Rosaura came to the party to earn money.

Quote: “You really and truly earned this,” she said handing them over. “Thank you for all your help my pet.”

    Social misunderstanding
The story talk about a girl named rosaura. She and her mother are poor . her mother worked as a made in a rich people house.
Rosauera believe that her friend, Lusiana, invited her to the party because they are friends and spend a lot time together.
Her mother was very worried about Lusiana intention because she thought they are going to make her the made in the party. She didn’t want her to go to the party, but in the end after a long argument she agreed and rosaura did go to the party.
My thesis is that children are not aware to the differences in social class in the grown up world.
To support my thesis I will bring one quotes:
    1.”I don’t like you going …. It’s a rich people’s party “
Her mother say it because she is there made and she don’t want her daughter to be with them.
2.”thank you for all your help my pet…”
Lusiana mam said that like she is her dog because she help her all the time.
My conclusion is that class remain the same in every age and time.

    The Stolen Party Essay
I don’t understand about what Senora Ines and Luciana’s cousin did to Rosaura. They were so rude and I think they are thinking Rosaura is also maid like her mom. I think the author is trying to tell us that, every people need to be fair and have to be equal.
First of all, people need to be fair. In the story, during a Luciana’s birthday party, Luciana’s cousin was having conversation with Rosaura about her mom is working in Luciana’s house and she was being very rude to her. Maybe Luciana’s cousin thought Rosaura’s mom is a maid, so that Rosaura is also a law life one.
Second of all, people have to be equal. In the story, after a Luciana’s birthday party, Luciana’s mom, Senora Ines who is a boss of Rosaura’s mom, she gave a salary to Rosaura for serving things but it was not purposely. Maybe Senora Ines is thinking Rosaura is a maid like her mom. (Like Luciana’s cousin)
Finally, this is my opinion, only high life is doing everything, and they are making the rules to make easier for them. Law life is just supporting or being a foundation. If you want to be a high life or revenge them, the solution is one. “Work hard.”
In conclusion, there are examples that the author is trying to tell us that, every people need to be fair and have to be equal.

I can see law position evidence. Rosaura is made to serve the snacks as a maid work.
The magician too choose Rosaura to hold monkey due”—Spansih eyes—”
Only Rosaura is allowed in the kitchen because Senora ines is simply familiar with her as an employee.
Realationships are effected by class power.Rosaura’s idea of friendship is suddenly destroyed as she know that shs is treated not as Ruciana’s friend, but as an employee. i think that real life these realationships do connect with power.

Rosaura have lost her pureness that made her think that people are equal because of the thing that se√±ora Ines said “Thank you for all your help my pet”.

This story was realistic. People say that world is fair and equal as if they know all the things that are happening in the world but it’s not always fair and equal. Many people are kinder to powerful people and people with less power are ignored by the powerful people. For example in this story, blonde girl ignored Rosaura because she was poor and se√±ora Ines treaded her like a made even though she is just a girl like her daughter. Also example from the world is that when strong countries make bad mistakes other countries seems to understand but when weak countries make mistakes other countries gets so mad about it and try to destroy the country. And in school when popular kids does bad things others don’t say anything but when not popular kids does bad things, they become so mean and try to kick that person out of community.

As a conclusion, I think power is strong but also bad in many ways because it divides people and works unfairly to some people. It’s also obvious that power works unfairly to people because as you can see that there are a lot of examples that I can find.

    The Stolen Party

The story starts with the conflict between Rosaura and Rosaura’s mother. In the story, Rosaura’s mother works as a maid for Luciana’s family. During the Rosaura’s mother works, Rosaura and Luciana do their homework together, eat something and told each other secrets. One day, Luciana invites Rosaura for her birthday party. She thought Luciana invites her because they became friends and wants to spend more time together. But, her mother didn’t allow her to go, because she thought, that party is for rich people and her daughter is not the same person with them. Rosaura couldn’t understand because she thinks, all people are the same and it doesn’t matter rich or poor. But her mother always thinks negative things about rich people. Eventually, Rosaura allowed to go to the party and spent good time. She served the food, be a partner with the magician and allowed to see the monkey. She felt special at the party and felt she had never been so happy in all her life. Finally, she decided to go back home with her mother, Luciana told the people, please wait for a present. Rosaura also waited for a present but Luciana gave her money. She said,“You really and truly earned this,”and“Thank you for all your help my pet.”Rosaura felt very weird and embarrassed.

The author of this story wants to say, the role of power and social class are not easy to change, so poor people have to accept their role in society. I think the thesis of this story is, there is something different between poor people and rich people, and it is not easy to change, so poor people should accept their social status. In the story, when the main character, Rosaura said “I was the best behaved at the party.”she thought she was special and important person at the party, because she could serve the food, see the monkey and be a best partner with a magician. But it wasn’t! Luciana also thought that Rosaura isn’t real friend for her and just helper.
At first, she said “Rich people go to Heaven too,”so she thought all people are the same but, in the end she accept her social status and thinks that she is a different person with the people who were at the party because she is a daughter of maid.

    The Stolen Party

In the stolen party, Rosaura explores how social class isn’t really equal to every kinds of people. The story began once Lilana got invited to her friend Luciana’s birthday party. Firstly, Rosaura’s mom didn’t want Rosaura to go to Lilana’s party, becuase there was a big difference of role of power between Rosaura and Lilana, because Rosaura was a daughter of a maid who works for Rosaura’s house, so her mom probably thought that there wasn’t a right place to her to visit.
Secondly, she was serving dishes and cleaning dishes in the party which others don’t do, just becuase she wasn’t accepted to be a part, in addition, while she was serving dishes, Lilana’s cousin came up to Rosaura suddenly, then she pushed her to say that whether Rosaura is Luciana’s friend or not. When Rosaura told her that she is a daughter of a employee she laughed at her. Lastly, after the party was finished Luciana’s friends got rather yo-yo, or bracelet depends on whether they are boy or a girl. However, when Rosaura was leaving the party Luciana’s mom handed her two bills instead other presents, because she probably thought that she needs money nothing better than other. But, I think it’s not right things to do, because it’s kind of a discrimination, and she may felt really bad. Therefore, we should be equal to everyone without the influence of social power.

    The Real Life

Power can and does cut up society into classes. Social classes show how relationships are shaped, some of whitch are lower in order than the others. Rosaura’s understanding of the world around her, suddenly breakes. Her thinking about what she really is to Senora Ines comes in front of her eyes in the party. “The Party” steals Rosuras’s peace and her sense of friendship away. She is treated just as an emploee. The sight of “……two bills” in her Madam’s hands kills her beautiful world. She realises that she and her own mother are just a social class lesser than them. I think, Rosaura is too young and her mother’s wise words fail to impress her at the correct time. Wrongly, she beings to feel inportant like a “countess” for nothing. She learns the hard way, and a good lesson it is. This the reality, and in it are richness, power, class and a fixed social order.

  15. Jisung says:

This story is about power, main character is Rousaura, has rich friend Luciana and invited to party which is for rich people. Rousaura did al things which Senora Ines asked to do. At end, Senora Ines gave Luciana’s friends present. But gave two bills to Rousaura saying she as her pet. Which means Senora Ines didn’t think Rousaura as Luciana’s friend, by daughter of maid. While I was reading the story I thought why the rich people who have power treats poor people as something else than human. Every life is important not depending on power. By quote ““Thank you for all your help my pet.” by Senora Ines to Rousaura we can know that rich people treats poor people as something else than human. In conclusion, I think people have to treat all people as important people even they don’t have power, because they also think and has mood.

  16. Hyeonwoo Son says:

    Re:Writes about “Stolen party”

    Discrimination in Social

Difference of Social power can affect the relationship among the people and can cut up the society into different position. In this story, Rosaura explores how social class isn’t equal to every kinds of people. The story began with Rosaura who was trying hard to convince her mom.
Rosaura was invited to her friend Luciana’s Birthday party. They were really close friend. When the school was finished, Rosaura and Luciana always gathered together and worked on their homework. One day, her friend Luciana invited Rosaura to come to her party, which is a party for “high class of people gathering”. So, Rosaura’s mom strongly disagree to let her go to the party, because she was afraid that Rosaura might explores the cold shoulder of rich people. In fact, there was a big difference of social power between Rosaura and Luciana which is that Rosaura’s mom is a maid who works in Luciana’s house. Finally, Rosaura got a allowance of her mom, and went to the party. However, I could see the role of power in the party. Firstly, while other people was celebrating and enjoying the party, Rosaura served dishes and washes them as a role of maid. Similarly, while Rosaura was serving dishes, Luciana’s cousin came up to her and pushed her to check that whether she is a friend with Luciana. Rosaura told her that she is a daughter of employee who works under Luciana’s mom, soon she laughed at her. Lastly, when she was leaving the party, Luciana’s mom gave her two of bills instead of another presents. This action can elucidate us that she has a inappropriate awareness towards low class people that they desire nothing nothing better than money.
In conclusion, this story tells us about a discrimination of difference in social position (power). My opinion is that we should respect that even lower class people has right to be with upper class. Furthermore, we also should be equal to every kinds of people without any connection with social powers as well as not discriminating other people.
